I want to share a deeply personal story with you today. There was a time in my career when I was what I now call “Successfully Exhausted.” 😔 Picture this: me, crying in front of the senior executive I worked for because, no matter how hard I tried, my boss demeaned and berated me, not recognizing my value or appreciating my contributions. I had worked so hard for success. How could I be failing so embarrassingly and completely in front of the executive I worked for?
You might recognize this feeling. Perhaps you’ve had your own moments where emotions overwhelmed you at work, where the facade of “having it all together” crumbled in front of others. 😥 If you have, know that you’re not alone, and more importantly, there’s a different path forward.
Today, when I look back at those challenging moments, I see them through a transformed lens. The journey from being Successfully Exhausted to Mindfully Successful taught me three powerful truths:
🧠 Your brain can be your ally: Through meditation, I gained the ability to observe situations rather than absorb them. When someone’s behavior is toxic or demeaning, it’s a reflection of them, not you.
💪 Your body holds wisdom: By tuning into my physical responses and maintaining healthy practices, I learned to recognize when situations weren’t serving me – not as personal failures, but as valuable signals.
🌬️ Your breath is your anchor: The simple act of conscious breathing became my superpower, allowing me to respond thoughtfully rather than react emotionally.
And remember: The most profound changes often start with the smallest steps.

This transformation for me didn’t happen overnight. It was a gradual journey of small, intentional steps.⏳ As you begin this new year, I invite you to start your own journey toward mindful success. Here’s where you might begin: ✨ Take five minutes each morning for conscious breathing before starting your daily tasks. ✨ Practice observing without judgment, shifting from criticism to curiosity. This includes judgment of yourself as well as others. ✨ Engage in mindful movement – whether it’s yoga 🧘♀️, Qi Gong, or a quiet walk in nature 🌳. ✨ Notice your inner dialogue without harsh self-judgment. ✨ End your day with five minutes of meditation. 🕯️ |
My book, Mindfully Successful, delves deeper into these practices and how they can transform your life. Until then, I’m here to support your journey toward becoming mindfully successful, one conscious moment at a time. With mindful presence, Margo P.S. I’d love to hear about your experiences with mindfulness in the workplace. What small steps have you taken toward being more mindfully present? |
